Nelson Amalbert never intended to start a custom apparel business, but a conversation changed everything. While working at a local health center, his supervisor asked if he could create custom-printed t-shirts—something Nelson had never done before. He accepted the challenge, taught himself the craft, and delivered 700 shirts. What started as a side gig quickly transformed into a growing business, and with encouragement from a friend, Nelson made it official by opening Apparel Kingz LLC.
Participating in the EforAll Business Accelerator was a game-changer for Nelson. “I was a sponge, ready to just learn,” he says, reflecting on his favorite part of the program—the classes. EforAll gave him the tools to understand what goes into running a business, from taxes to insurance, areas he initially knew little about. What stood out most was the sense of community. “It’s free education, and the networking opportunities are amazing,” Nelson shares, highlighting how the accelerator opened doors he never would have considered.
Nelson is grateful for all the knowledge and connections he gained through the business accelerator program. Most exciting of all, Nelson was able to stop operating out of his home and opened a storefront in Springfield, MA, in December 2024.
