Texas Tikka is a fusion of Indian and Texan barbecue. Frustrated by the lack of Indian food options around Austin, Yohan Vajifdar wanted to offer something different from the usual fare. After realizing his skill in cooking Indian food and his family’s love for barbecue, he experimented with combining the two cuisines and officially launched the business as an LLC in 2021.
Despite his deep understanding of food and restaurant management background, Yohan knew he lacked the business skills needed to take Texas Tikka to the next level. “No one in my family is in business, so I didn’t know much about the operational side,” Yohan admits. He applied for the EforAll Business Accelerator, hoping to learn more about business management.
Throughout the program, he learned how to forecast and track sales. His mentors helped him with marketing and finance, two areas where Yohan felt less confident. The mentorship extended beyond the weekly sessions, with his mentors staying in touch to offer guidance and support.
Since completing the accelerator, Yohan has seen significant improvements in his business. He has deployed improved customer engagement strategies, driving a 35% sales increase and a 50% improvement in customer feedback. Yohan is now making plans to introduce a food truck. “The support from EforAll has been invaluable. It helped me focus on customer acquisition and taught me how to get regular customer feedback. It made all the difference.”
