A wonderful show of community came out to support entrepreneurship at the Fort Taber Community Center last Wednesday, April 4, 2018 to cheer on over a dozen entrepreneurs, as they showcased their business ideas at the Sell Your Skills Pitch Contest. Eight of the entrepreneurs, faced off for a chance to win prize money to put towards their businesses. Check out more pics from the night here.

Fan Favorite: Reggae On West Beach wins $500
The City of New Bedford needs more accessible and multi-generational music events that utilize existing City structures in under-served areas. Reggae On West Beach meets this need by using the West Beach Pavilion as a dance spot for DJs to spin the best in old and new reggae music. With the beach and Hazelwood Park as a beautiful backdrop, guests groove to the music and enjoy the diverse mix of food truck offerings on the last Sunday of each month throughout the summer.
Third Place: Old Time Fiddle Lessons Online wins $500
A video based internet accessed music lesson subscription business. Subscribers pay a monthly or annual fee for access to a series of pre-recorded instrumental lessons. The core collection of lessons will always be accessible to subscribers. New lessons, added weekly, make ongoing subscription rewarding.

Second Place: Bilo Herbs wins $750

First Place: Cape Cod Nail Company wins $1,000
Cape Cod Nail Co. is a mobile nail salon servicing groups and parties. We specialize in weddings, birthdays, and events. We also recently launched a private label nail polish line retailing online and in stores. My goal is to have team of techs servicing different parts of the state. The nail polish line will support and build the brand as well as generate great marketing and excitement about Cape Cod Nail Co.!
Sarah Mason of Sandwich runs a mobile nail salon that caters to events and weddings. Mason recently launched a Cape inspired nail polish line and has hopes of growing her team and expanding retail distribution areas.
