Helder Machado is the CEO of Machado Consulting Inc, a Worcester-based IT and Cybersecurity consulting firm.  While Helder has been mentoring entrepreneurs for the last 20 years, 2021 was the first year he mentored with EforAll.  He was introduced to EforAll Greater Worcester by a great friend and mentor and says he couldn’t be happier with the experience thus far.

What made you want to become a mentor?

I have had so many great mentors over the course of my career, and I wanted to pay it forward and help others as others have helped me in my business.

Can you give us some examples of the kinds of startups you have mentored with us?

I recently worked with 2gether We Eat, a community-based youth hydroponic farming program that uses hydroponics to provide food, education, training, and employment opportunities.

Is there a specific mentoring experience that you are most proud of?

There are so many great moments, but mostly, I am so blessed to be passing on my own lessons learned to help others with their business. It is also such a gift to work with an amazing group of people and help them take their ideas and turn them into a thriving business.

What is your favorite part of being an EforAll mentor?

For me, it is working with the entrepreneurs and watching them grow their business and seeing their eyes light up and get excited when they finally start to take their idea and transform it into reality.

What advice would you have for entrepreneurs?

It is very easy to get overwhelmed and lose focus thinking about everything you must do to start and run a business. It is smart to always start with a plan that keeps the big picture in mind but remember to stay focused on the tasks that will get you there. Little by little, before you know it, you’ll have finished what you started.
