Marteka Landrum has always loved helping teenagers. After years of working with nonprofits and youth organizations that supported teens in problem-solving and organizational skills, she founded Positive Changes 11, which focuses on academic life coaching for teens, helping them identify their strengths and overcome challenges in personal and academic areas.

Initially unsure about the direction of her business, Marteka turned to the EforAll Business Accelerator program to gain clarity, as she said she didn’t have a business background.  She heard about EforAll at a networking event, where she connected with a friend who had completed the program and spoke highly of it. Marteka saw the accelerator as an opportunity to determine if entrepreneurship was the right path for her.

The program gave Marteka the structure and mentorship she needed to grow Positive Changes 11. “My favorite part was having focused time with experts to learn and work on my business,” she shared. She says she gained invaluable insight into essential aspects of running a business, from handling bookkeeping and insurance to navigating local business regulations.

Since completing the program, Marteka has secured a bookkeeper, refined her networking strategy to reach her target audience better, and, most importantly, worked on transitioning to paid clients. Looking back on her experience, she recommends EforAll to anyone considering entrepreneurship. “If you have a business idea, you should definitely check it out,” she encouraged.
