Green is Good for this Cape Business
The plastic waste issue, especially on the Cape where she lives, made Jessica Georges anxious. She kept researching how to help and be part of the solution, not the problem. In 2018, she launched Green Road Refill, an earth-friendly online store dedicated to reducing the plastic footprint in the region.
With a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and no business background, she knew she needed help managing her new business. When she heard about EforAll’s Business Accelerator through a friend, she thought it was too good to be true. “Is it true I’m going to learn all that, and for free?”. After participating in a Pitch Contest, where she won a prize, she applied for the Cape Cod Fall 2018 Business Accelerator.
Besides the practical business skills she learned, Jess said the best part was all the connections she made as well as her dedicated mentors. “The networking is so valuable. All the people I’ve met just don’t go away once the program ends; they became my friends. I feel I’m now a part of a community that I can depend on for the long haul.”
In 2021, Green Road Refill became a brick-and-mortar store. They sell more than 40 refill products, tripled the number of wholesale accounts, and have 5x more products for sale. More importantly, they have saved more than 10.000 plastic bottles! “I have recommended EforAll to many friends thinking about opening a business. It gave me the confidence I needed to keep it going!” said Jessica.
