After working in dental offices for nearly twenty years and practicing dentistry for ten, Dr. Joke Alesh, DMD, MPH, wanted to create a space where patients felt genuinely cared for, not rushed. That vision came to life with Marigold Dental Studio, a general dental office in Rhode Island that specializes in preventive, cosmetic, and biomimetic dentistry, built on the belief that oral care should be as compassionate as it is clinical.
When she launched the practice, Dr. Alesh had little formal business training. After doing some research, she decided to apply for the EforAll Business Accelerator. “It seemed like an amazing opportunity to get that education for free with like-minded individuals,” she said. Her goal was to gain clarity on what set her practice apart—and how to communicate that difference through her marketing and operations.
During the accelerator, her mentors played a key role in transforming how she managed her practice. They encouraged her to carve out dedicated time to work on her business, not just in it. She shared. “The mentor meetings forced me to carve out time to work on big-picture tasks.” With their support, she hired a weekly admin, and together, they streamlined her scheduling system so that patient visits became more efficient and profitable.
In just three years, Marigold Dental Studio’s income has increased by $ 60,000–$ 70,000, and she has paid off over $50,000 in debt thanks to a financial plan developed with her mentors. “EforAll helped me see a tangible route toward profitability in my business,” she said. “It forced me to act as a CEO and work on the big-picture tasks just as much as the everyday duties of providing dental care.”
