Food from the Land, Not the Lab
“Crummies Meatless Crumbles was created out of necessity,” says Founder, Stephanie Baudhin. After transitioning to a plant-based diet in 2017, Stephanie was ‘taken aback’ by the number of meat alternatives on the market that were filled with chemicals. That’s how Crummies was born. Crummies is a plant-based meat alternative product that behaves like ground meat in any recipe, but all seven simple ingredients are completely natural.
“I first heard about EforAll when I was working at a farmer’s market. Harris Rollinger (EforAll Longmont’s Executive Director) was set up right next to me.” Soon after speaking with Harris, Stephanie applied and was accepted into the EforAll Longmont Business Accelerator. “As an entrepreneur you just have so many ideas floating around and many directions you can take. Just having support behind you and figuring out each step strategically was great.”
Today, Crummies can now be found in local grocery stores. Stephanie says “EforAll helped me see myself ‘beyond the booth’ and how we were going to grow our business.” And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Crummies pivoted their focus and began to offer online ordering for their customers as well as contactless porch delivery. She’s also participated in a handful of online farmers’ markets.
“I’ve made some really great friends from the Accelerator cohort”, says Stephanie. “COVID-19 may have brought us all a little closer together. It’s really nice to know that you have a group of people that are going through the same thing and that we can lean on each other.”
