Yonatan De La Cruz Mota comenzó su carrera en la banca en Puerto Rico antes de mudarse a Rhode Island en 2013. Actualmente es Subvicepresidente y Gerente de Sucursal en Centreville Bank, donde lidera tanto la sucursal de West Warwick como la nueva ubicación en Pawtucket. En 2024, Yonatan comenzó como mentor en EparaTodos, una oportunidad que le ha permitido apoyar a emprendedores en etapas tempranas dentro de comunidades hispanohablantes, ofreciendo orientación culturalmente relevante.
¿Qué te motivó a convertirte en mentor?
Me apasiona apoyar a mi comunidad y empoderar a otros compartiendo mi conocimiento y experiencia. Creo firmemente que, cuando las personas tienen acceso a las herramientas y la guía adecuadas, pueden generar un cambio significativo y duradero, no solo para ellos mismos, sino también para quienes los rodean. EparaTodos brinda una plataforma poderosa para lograr justamente eso, fomentando el emprendimiento y apoyando el crecimiento de pequeños negocios.
¿Hay alguna experiencia como mentor de la que te sientas especialmente orgulloso?
Durante el programa, fui testigo de una transformación impresionante en mi emprendedora. Pasó de tener una gran pasión por la cocina y una idea prometedora, a convertirse en una empresaria segura de sí misma, con una visión clara y un sólido conocimiento de la industria de alimentos. Gracias a su dedicación y al acompañamiento estructurado del programa, adquirió conocimientos valiosos en planificación de negocios, manejo financiero y estrategia operativa. Fue muy gratificante acompañarla en ese proceso y verla salir con las herramientas y la confianza necesarias para dirigir un negocio sostenible.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de ser mentor en EparaTodos?
Lo que más disfruto es poder conectar con personas apasionadas—tanto otros mentores como el equipo de EparaTodos—que están comprometidas con apoyar a los emprendedores. Colaborar en este entorno crea una red fuerte y solidaria que ayuda a convertir ideas en negocios exitosos.

¿Qué consejo les darías a los emprendedores?
Como profesional bancario que está muy involucrado en su comunidad, frecuentemente hablo con personas que están considerando iniciar su propio negocio. Mi consejo casi siempre es el mismo: tómate el tiempo para entender bien la industria, aprende todo lo que puedas sobre cómo manejar un negocio, y comprométete con el aprendizaje continuo y el desarrollo personal. What made you want to become a mentor?
I am passionate about supporting my community and empowering others by sharing my knowledge and experience. I believe that when individuals are equipped with the right tools and guidance, they can create meaningful, lasting change—not just for themselves, but for those around them. EparaTodos provides a powerful platform to do exactly that by fostering entrepreneurship and supporting the growth of small businesses.
Is there a specific mentoring experience that you are most proud of?
Over the course of the program, I witnessed my mentee’s remarkable transformation—from someone with a strong passion for cooking and a promising idea, to a confident business owner with a clear vision and a solid understanding of the food service industry. Through her dedication and the structured guidance provided by the program, she gained valuable knowledge in areas such as business planning, financial management, and operational strategy. It was incredibly rewarding to support her growth and to see her emerge with the tools and confidence needed to run a sustainable business.

What I enjoy most about being an EparaTodos mentor is the opportunity to connect with passionate individuals—both fellow mentors and the EparaTodos team—who are committed to supporting entrepreneurs.
