EforAll Receives $35,000 Grant from Google
Longmont, CO – December 6, 2019 – Continuing to help under-resourced individuals successfully start and grow their businesses, the nonprofit Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) announced today it has received a $35,000 grant from Google to support its program in Longmont, CO, which launched in the fall of 2019.
“Google Boulder is proud to support EforAll as they continue expanding their great work across the state of Colorado. Their Longmont location is the first site established outside of their main hub in Massachusetts and it’s easy to see why. This region is full of innovative, entrepreneurial talent, a lot of which remains untapped,” said Lauren Lambert, Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs for Google. “With this grant, our hope is that EforAll will be able to reach even more people through their expert training and resources so that together, we can continue to support new ideas and solutions to our communities’ toughest challenges while creating opportunity for everyone.”
EforAll received 36 applications for 9 available slots in its first Business Accelerator program in Longmont, which will begin on January 7th. The program held an “All Ideas Pitch Contest” in October, awarding prizes ranging from $500 to $1,000 to aspiring entrepreneurs in the community.
“We’re thrilled to have Google’s support to ensure the success of our first site in Colorado, and to demonstrate how EforAll’s unique approach can help under-represented individuals — particularly women, immigrants and people of color — in communities beyond Massachusetts start businesses and nonprofits that create jobs and address an unmet need,” said Harris Rollinger, Executive Director of EforAll in Longmont.
Of businesses started by EforAll participants, 75 percent are owned by women, 56 percent are owned by people of color, 54 percent are owned by immigrants and 56 percent are owned by people who were previously unemployed.
EforAll’s Business Accelerator Program is a yearlong program offered twice a year at no cost to participants. Practical, in-person sessions with content specialists cover critical early-stage business challenges (i.e. value proposition, fundraising, bookkeeping, pricing, social media). Each entrepreneur is matched with a team of 3 mentors and has the opportunity to win seed money each quarter. EforAll also holds pitch contests that are open to everyone and offer an opportunity to validate a business idea, win cash prizes, network with local business owners and meet potential customers.
