EforAll Maine Awards $2,750 at its Fall All Ideas Pitch Contest for Aspiring Local Entrepreneurs
Now Accepting Applications for its no-cost, one-year Spring 2024 Business Accelerator
LEWISTON, Maine, December 1, 2023 — Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) – a nonprofit whose mission is to accelerate economic and social impact through inclusive entrepreneurship – today announced three pitch contest winners, following its in-person event in Lewiston on Wednesday, October 4th. Winning participants include:
- Libann Negeye, Neighbourhood Talent won $1,500 for his nonprofit youth soccer academy.
- Miranda Goodspeed, Brittany Allen and Mary Estes, HiViz Swimwear won $750 for their high visibility, safety-minded neon swimwear company.
- Bishara Alkher, Karkangee Hibiscus Drink won $500 for his African Hibiscus drink company.
A total of 6 aspiring entrepreneurs pitched their business idea to a panel of judges, including officials from The City of Lewiston as well as executives from Greenlight Maine, Proprietor.App, and Circularity2.
“Our EforAll Pitch contest is an amazing way for aspiring entrepreneurs to get professional feedback and earn some prize money on a business idea in a friendly and supportive environment,” said Obinna Okani, Executive Director of EforAll Maine. “We like to refer to it as ‘shark tank’ without the teeth!”
Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline helped kick off the event saying “EforAll Maine offers our residents an amazing opportunity to start or grow their business which is crucial to Lewiston’s economic growth and vitality.”
EforAll Maine is also now accepting applications for its Spring 2024 program scheduled to begin on Tuesday, February 27th. Designed to aid aspiring and current entrepreneurs in the launch and growth of their business or nonprofit, EforAll Maine’s Business Accelerator program offers a unique combination of immersive business training, dedicated mentorship team, and access to an extended professional network. Applications are due by Wednesday, January 17th @ 5pm. Interested individuals can learn more and apply for the program here.
Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) is a nonprofit organization that partners with communities nationwide to help under-represented individuals successfully start and grow a business through intensive business training, mentorship and an extended professional support network. To date, EforAll alumni have launched over 1,400 businesses. In 2022 alone, its businesses provided 2,108 local jobs and generated over $66M in revenue, despite the pandemic. Programs are available in both English and Spanish.
