Melissa Jankowski worked in the food and beverage industry for many years. While working as the general manager of a large and bustling year-round restaurant on the Cape, she thought: “I should do this for myself. I’m good at it, and I love it!”. She opened The Buttercup Cafe in Barnstable, MA in 2020.

Her sister insisted she talk to the local EforAll Cape staff (Christin Marshall and Amanda Kaiser. Melissa quickly realized that EforAll’s Fall 2019 Business Accelerator could help her a lot on this journey. “I wanted to find some rounding and some answers to the business questions I had buzzing in my head, and I also needed to get organized,” said Melissa.

Being part of a cohort with other like-minded people, and becoming close friends so fast, was her favorite part of the program. The program also helped build her confidence and made her believe in herself. “EforAll took me from a dreamer to a doer!”

Beyond that, the EforAll family has turned up in big ways for her and her business. Every day she says there is someone related to EforAll showing up for lunch, sending her a new customer, and supporting her business. After a year in business, she surpassed her sales goals and has ten year-round employees.
