The South Coast Winter 2017 Business Accelerator helped 13 young companies turn their ideas and passion into viable businesses. Many industries were represented, including service, technology, education, and sustainability.
It was a night of excitement as 13 new businesses celebrated the culmination of a 12-week intensive Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) EforAll accelerator program. The 13 entrepreneurs showcased their products and services during AHA! New Bedford at the Whaling Museum. 125 people attended. EforAll awarded $15,000, shared by the entrepreneurs mentioned below. However, the cohort will have more opportunities throughout the year to be awarded cash prizes, as EforAll provides additional support for the next 9 months.
Dave Smith, owner of Factory Five Racing, delivered a powerful keynote speech, reminding entrepreneurs that nothing about entrepreneurship is easy, but if you believe in what you’re doing, it’s worth it. After having run his company for the better part of 20 years, Smith is back on his entrepreneurial horse, developing a tv series he hopes to have picked up by a major network soon! This dedication to entrepreneurship as a lifestyle is a take away the cohort found indispensable.
Accelerator participant, Caroline Paradis, was chosen by her classmates to deliver a speech on behalf of her accelerator colleagues. She’s the founder of Clarity Wellness, a business that provides natural healing, stress reduction, and mental clarity through Reiki, group meditation and mindfulness services. She delivered a beautiful speech that brought a combination of laughter and tears from the crowd. In her remarks, Paradis said “I simply cannot imagine going through this process without my fellow cohort members. This is a talented, driven, passionate group of people who will undoubtedly achieve their own versions of success, and will make the world a better place as they do it. I am proud to be in your company. You all have educated, inspired and encouraged me to push forward and believe in myself, probably more than you know. Thank you for that.”
