During a family RV trip to Niagara Falls, Jessica Sherman and her husband, Patrick Sherman,  noticed a lot of kayaks sitting in people’s yards and wished they could just rent them for the day. They realized a rental marketplace that could help people access underused household items could be a great business idea. Rannsak is a platform allowing individuals to rent items like paddleboards, kayaks, or camping gear to others in their community. It promotes sustainability and cost efficiency by reducing unnecessary consumption and encouraging resource sharing.

Jessica, who has a background in technology, and her husband, who has a background in construction,  realized early on that they needed help with marketing. They searched for local resources and found the Business Accelerator program. “We needed guidance, especially around marketing, and hoped to make some valuable connections,” she said.

The accelerator exceeded Jessica’s expectations, offering marketing support and a tight-knit network of mentors and fellow entrepreneurs. “Our cohort was small, but we all got along really well. We still have our group chat,” Jessica shared. This supportive environment helped Jessica and her husband grow their business more confidently.

Since graduating, Rannsak has seen a 35% increase in membership and now has around 200 members. The business has also participated in major regional events, including one with 10,000 attendees. Jessica recommends EforAll to anyone with a business idea or looking to scale a business, saying, “EforAll will guide you through all aspects of opening a business and help you make educated decisions.”
